Healing with Music
The Journey
“This path has been a long and arduous one.”
Music has always been a part of Chantell’s journey. As a child surrounded by musical relatives, the power of the melody has always been evident in her life.
“Music always has a way of coming to me,” says Chantell. “ In the beginning, I unknowingly created songs that helped me survive. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I began to fully understand the impact of what the universe has given me over time.”
To hear Chantell pour her soul bare into a room is a magnificent and life altering experience. Whether she is belting out powerful notes or demonstrating her classical training with operatic timbre, she expresses melody in a manner capable of bringing the listener to life.
Healing in and with music has been an important concept to Chantell throughout her writing career. “As a song writer, I’ve always been open to lyrics and melodies pouring out of me. As a musician, that shift happened in my 30’s. I realized that I was holding the sound. For years, I left performance. I never left creativity and connecting with music on a spiritual level. At some point, a light bulb went off. It was like I woke up for the first time. This gift is not my own. What is given to me is not mine to hold. Music happens to and through me. When I’m connected, there is a resonance that I find. It changes me.”
